NBA Christmas Day Recap

On a very busy Christmas Day, we had all day NBA action with five games. Here, we will recap them at length.

Boston Celtics 118, Toronto Raptors 102: Boston held the lead nearly the entire game, they out-rebounded and out-shot Toronto, and had the best player on the floor yesterday in Jaylen Brown. In 35 minutes, Brown scored 30 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, and dished out 4 assists. All five of Boston's starters scored in double-figures. Fred VanVleet led the Raptors with 27 points and 4 rebounds.

Philadelphia 76ers 121, Milwaukee Bucks 109: Joel Embiid was a beast for Philly, scoring 31 points, and pulling down 11 rebounds. The entire game he defended reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and did more than hold his own. Giannis had 18 and 14, but struggled to shoot all game.

Golden State Warriors 116, Houston Rockets 104: In a game many expected to be controlled by Houston, it was the Warriors who protected their home floor in this upset win. The Rockets could not stop the duo of Damion Lee and D'Angelo Russell who combined for 42 points. In a season of struggles, this is a highlight for Warriors fans.

Los Angeles Clippers 111, Los Angeles Lakers 106: In the battle for L.A. it was close, but it was the Clips in the NBA's most exciting new rivalry. Kawhi Leonard was terrific, scoring 35 points in 38 minutes. Paul George added 17 for LAC. Anthony Davis and LeBron James combined for 47 points but it came at a cost. James suffered a groin injury that could force him to miss time.

New Orleans Pelicans 112, Denver Nuggets 100: In the Pels ninth win of the season it was again Brandon Ingram performing brilliantly. He notched 31 points to lead all scorers. NOLA was +12 on the glass and hit all 12 of their free throw attempts.

OPINION: The NBA G League's Ignite Program Holding Ground In Recruiting Tug Of War

Over the many years that top prep basketball players have been recruited, the vast majority chose to go the only traditional route available to them: play college basketball. Some opted to play overseas. For whatever reason, we have seen that the college route is not for every player. Knowing this, the NBA stepped through their development league. In the fall of 2018, the NBA G League announced Select Contracts of $125,000 for elite recruits, including opportunities for basketball development, life skills and academic scholarship starting with the 2019-2020 season. With all of that said, no players from the graduating class of 2019 opted to take part. So the G League set their sights on the class of 2020. As more schools across the country have been exposed in the FBI's investigation into college basketball recruiting, the G League has made their pitch: play and get paid fairly. On April 16, 2020, the G League announced a raised salary for prospects and a one-year development pro
