NCAAW: No. 11 Texas A&M routs in-state foe Houston

COLLEGE STATION, TX- The No. 11 Texas A&M Aggies improved to 9-1 on the season as they took down Houston 72-43 today.

Chennedy Carter led a balanced attack for A&M scoring 23 points, Ciera Johnson had 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and N'dea Jones also had a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The Aggies assisted on 24 of 30 made field-goals and forced Houston into 21 turnovers for the game.

Houston (5-6) made only 18/64 field-goals. Dorian Branch, Tatyana Hill, and Dymond Gladney all scored 10 points.

After losing the first game of the all-time series in 2003, A&M has now won the last five. Also with the win, head coach Gary Blair won his 800th career game.

"First I would like to thank everybody that made this possible. There were a lot of things going on behind the scenes that I didn't even know about. I didn't know about my daughter getting here due to a tournament they had this weekend. I was out raking the leaves quickly this morning and all of a sudden she walks in with her husband and everybody else was coming in so it was special being able to enjoy with family. But also the family of the extended people here. Coach [Kelly Bond-White] does so many things behind the scenes. She's just like a little Oprah. I mean she gets things done. She gets on the phone and makes things happen. She's such an unsung hero for Texas A&M. All the support people that made this possible; yes this was pressure. Not the pressure to win as much as the pressure to play well and to improve as a basketball team. And yes I've been nervous for about a week and a half. I knew it was just a number that was coming up. It's tough. My good friend is going to hit 700 in a couple weeks. There's a good high school friend that just hit 800 two days ago that lives pretty close around here. It's a number, but it's the feeling of accomplishment for all of the years. It's not one play, and it's not one player. It's all of y'all, everything that comes together. You have shared probably the 320 something losses I've had too, but that comes with sport, sport gives you a chance to have an outcome. Sport is your chance to have hope. It gives you a chance to have hope, at Texas A&M, this is a destination school. No one should ever leave this school for another job. You've got a great university; we're given all the toys and the tools to be able to entertain people. It's been special." - Texas A&M coach Gary Blair

The Aggies next play Georgia Tech and Montana State on December 20th and 21st as part of the Puerto Rico Coqui Classic.

OPINION: The NBA G League's Ignite Program Holding Ground In Recruiting Tug Of War

Over the many years that top prep basketball players have been recruited, the vast majority chose to go the only traditional route available to them: play college basketball. Some opted to play overseas. For whatever reason, we have seen that the college route is not for every player. Knowing this, the NBA stepped through their development league. In the fall of 2018, the NBA G League announced Select Contracts of $125,000 for elite recruits, including opportunities for basketball development, life skills and academic scholarship starting with the 2019-2020 season. With all of that said, no players from the graduating class of 2019 opted to take part. So the G League set their sights on the class of 2020. As more schools across the country have been exposed in the FBI's investigation into college basketball recruiting, the G League has made their pitch: play and get paid fairly. On April 16, 2020, the G League announced a raised salary for prospects and a one-year development pro
