AUSTIN, TX- The Texas Longhorns knocked off the No. 1 Stanford Cardinal 69-64 today at the Frank Erwin Center.

Charli Collier led Texas (7-4) with a dominant 20 point, 19 rebound afternoon. Joyner Holmes and Sug Sutton added another 25 points. This is the Longhorns first win against an AP No. 1 team since 2004. Stanford still leads the all-time series 8-5.

Texas coach Karen Aston: I think that our team had a confidence about themselves that we started the game with, but, the thing that I'm most proud of is they're beginning to learn how to play 40 minutes. They reset themselves when things don't go well. They're learning to help each other and not depend on the coaches as much. I think that's where we've sort of turned the corner. Again, it's one win; it's a big one. There's no question about it. Stanford is really, really good. But I told them before the game that I wanted to see that we are still growing and that we learned some things from Tennessee. I wanted to see that we were moving forward and getting better. You hope that the win came out of that, and it did. I'm just really proud because this was a complete team.

One of three players in double-figure scoring was Lexie Hull who scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Stanford (10-1).

With the loss, UConn is expected to be the new No. 1 team in the AP Top 25 poll. There has already been some turnover at the No. 1 spot, something not usually seen in NCAAW.

Texas next plays on Dec. 29th against Northwestern State. Stanford next hosts UC-Davis on Dec. 28th

OPINION: The NBA G League's Ignite Program Holding Ground In Recruiting Tug Of War

Over the many years that top prep basketball players have been recruited, the vast majority chose to go the only traditional route available to them: play college basketball. Some opted to play overseas. For whatever reason, we have seen that the college route is not for every player. Knowing this, the NBA stepped through their development league. In the fall of 2018, the NBA G League announced Select Contracts of $125,000 for elite recruits, including opportunities for basketball development, life skills and academic scholarship starting with the 2019-2020 season. With all of that said, no players from the graduating class of 2019 opted to take part. So the G League set their sights on the class of 2020. As more schools across the country have been exposed in the FBI's investigation into college basketball recruiting, the G League has made their pitch: play and get paid fairly. On April 16, 2020, the G League announced a raised salary for prospects and a one-year development pro
